Grants Available
Ninth District PTA will offer grants again this year in support of unit and council projects or programs that support the mission and goals of  PTA. 
Units and Councils in “good standing” are encouraged to begin planning now with your board members in submitting applications for funding to implement or enhance a special PTA led program or project. 
 
Complete Grant applications are due no later than Tuesday, November 19th, 2009 at 12:00 noon in the Ninth District Office, post marked applications will NOT be accepted.
 




 
Emergency Preparedness – Wildfires
Families, businesses and schools throughout San Diego County are aware of the devastating wildfires of 2003 and 2007.  Reminder that fire preparedness tips are listed on the San Diego County Office of Emergency Preparedness portal.
 
In July 2009 many county residents received the CD “Before the Threat”.   A collaborative effort between the San Diego Association of Fire Chiefs, Farmers Insurance and the San Diego County Office of Emergency Services noting specific fire protection steps that our families and businesses need to be familiar with and working to implement.

California Launches New Web Site to Better Communicate With 
Parents and Educators About State Testing Program
            SACRAMENTO – State Superintendent of Public Instruction Jack O’Connell today launched a new Web site to give parents and teachers a much better understanding of the state’s California Standards Tests that measure how well the California public education system and its students are performing.  
Web site: www.starsamplequestions.org, which features dozens of actual test questions that students have faced at every grade level.
